Díli, February 27, 2024 - The Institute of Business (IOB) collaborates with the World Bank to host a workshop to present the world bank’s report on Timor-Leste’s current economic situation.

At the opening of the ceremony, the Rector of IOB, Dr. Pedro Barreto Ximenes, S. T., M. M., expressed his satisfaction with the World Bank team’s initiative to come to IOB and host an engaging information session for students. “Don’t be afraid to ask questions to gain clarity and answers from the speaker to broaden your knowledge, particularly regarding the current economic situation,” he said.

Bernard Harborne, the World Bank's Country Representative in Timor-Leste, emphasized that the World Bank is a financial institution that plays an important role in providing assistance to countries in need. Furthermore, the World Bank concentrates its efforts on research to assist countries in better understanding their economic situations. Timor-Leste must be informed of its economic status in order to support the government's efforts to continue developing the country, especially now that it has joined the World Trade Organization.

In this workshop, many students and lecturers participated, including IOB alumni.
